Amaravati Historical Capital City

Amaravati, the new capital city of Andhra Pradesh state was also the capital for Satavahana and other kingdoms in ancient days. Amaravati is situated between Guntur and Vijayawada cities and on the banks of river Krishna. According to Vajrayana traditional sources the Buddha preached at Dharanikota/Dhanyakatakam and conducted Kalachakra ceremony, which would take the antiquity of Amaravati back to 500 BCE.
